“I started this museum because I felt that there is a cultural lacuna in terms of documenting a place with its hybrid culture in a museum and therefore, I established it; because I wanted people to understand the variation of culture and its huge impact on people and place through generations.”
“India is a vast country with a plethora of regional, cultural traditions. I believe that local museums like Prachina, where nuanced representations of culture become possible, will feature prominently in India's future cultural landscapes. Culture in regions is a part of the transforming but living traditions which, when presented in a museum, can abolish the polarization between the past and the present. Regional museums also connect the community with its heritage more strongly than museums at a national level. The people of Bikaner take pride in their own museum.” read more...
